English

From Greek soma meaning body, and psyche for mind or soul, Somatic Psychology is a multidisciplinary field that bridges the body-mind relationship by approaching and studying human being as a global living organism with cognitive, emotional, physical and transpersonal functions which all maintain internal balance also known as homeostasis.

This contemporary field of Psychology considers all body related sciences and studies such as Anatomy, Biology, Body Anthropology, Dance, Movement Analysis, Psychoneuroimmunology, Neurosciences and so forth, in order to understand the causes of inner and/or physical tension released through Body Psychotherapy techniques.

Within this perspective, body and mind are considered intertwined and therefore affecting one another.
